$15,000 Fly Rod

$15,000 Fly Rod

Here's your chance to own a piece of history

The Yellowstone Park Foundation has teamed up with legendary rod makers Glenn Brackett and the Boo Boys to auction off the very last bamboo rod they made while with the R.L. Winston Rod Company. The opening bid is $15,000 and all the money will go directly to the Yellowstone Fisheries Fund.

The rod was made as a tribute to the employees of Winston and is the only one of its kind. The 7-foot, 9-inch 4/5-weight is signed by Brackett, Jerry Kustich, Wayne Maca and Jeff Walker and comes with two rod tips.

Here's how it will work: Interested buyers will mail in a sealed bid, and whoever bids the highest will receive the rod, along with a package of gear that includes a Patagonia SST jacket, Simms waders and an Orvis Battenkill reel, among many other items. Glenn Brackett will also personally deliver the rod to the winning bidder to help set it up and execute its first casts.

Details: Bids will be accepted from May 1 through June 30, 2007. Do not send in any cash or checks with the bid. Enclose your name, address and telephone number with the amount you wish to bid. The winning bidder will be contacted on or around August 1, 2007. Minimum bid is $15,000.
