Vt. Sea Lampreys

https://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/article/20130719/NEWS07/307190033/Program-to-control-sea-lamprey-receives-600K-Vermont-Lake-Champlain Interesting piece of trivia:

The Champlain sea lampreys turn out to be native, as are the ones in Lake Ontario. The native strains of lake trout and landlocked salmon co-existed with them. But when they were extirpated stocked strains got hammered. So we’re killing natives to save aliens--not that I’m objecting.
