Is Global Warming Real?

As I have been a backpacker in some of the highest altitudes, I have seen the depletion of ice fields/glaciers in the last 10 years especially.  I enjoy fly fishing for Golden Trout at some of our most gorgeous mountains.  Now that I have said that, I'm not sold on the idea of "Global Warming" because I also know that our planet goes through periods of warming and cooling over the thousands/billions of years.  Its a completely natural condition.  In recent times this natural condition may be enhanced by man made polution.  Just one more note....In some of the glaciers where I backpack scientists have done core samples and found extinct grasshoppers 40' deep.  Just something to think about.

Huh?

You read the stats I and others reported, and you still aren’t “sold on the idea of global warming”? Okaaaay…..

Natural or man made global warming

Yes, our planet has cycled in and out of cooling and warming spells. However, under natural conditions big jumps in temperature changes occur over geologic time. The change we are inflicting on the planet is going to occur in less than 100 years. In the past 100 years, the temperature has only gone up 1.5 degrees, yet look at all the changes that have occurred. Sea level up 7 inches, most glaciers all around the world melting, Arctic sea ice at the lowest level in recorded human history, 333 consecutive months where the temperature is above the century average, every decade in the past 40 years hotter than the previous decade, extreme weather events all around the world, etc, etc. So if all this is happening with just 1.5 degrees, just wait when we go up by the 7-11 degrees that is forecast - in less than 90 years. We will be turning over a planet and natural resources to future generations that will never be able to enjoy the same fishing, hunting and outdoor activities that we have been privileged to experience.

I'm still surprised by the number of people out there that still deny global warming.

Yes there is an element of natural global warming, however if you look at the statistics, especially around the arctic, there are changes there of astronomical proportions, changes that the earth hasn't seen for billions of years. Changing at a ridiculously fast pace that it doesn't make any logical sense for it to be natural.

No doubt that humans are to blame, and we should realise that sooner rather than later and make adjustments to the way we live.
