Alas, poor Chittenden Bank.

The radical anti-wilderness, property-rights zealots who drag down the image of sportsmen nationwide are gaining a foothold in New England--especially Vermont. Their outrageous behavior, however, disturbs me less than some of the reactions to it by rational elements of mainstream society. Even in northern Vermont groups like HAT comprise a tiny fraction of hunters and fishers, and yet their bullying tactics frequently elicit groveling and floor licking. To me the truly disgusting part of this story is not the demagoguery of a small-time hook-and-bullet editor but the obsequiousness of a major bank. Click Here
